Airlines, travel firms rush to reduce prices of domestic tours by 30-40% to stir up demand amid a market slump.

 
Plane tickets account for 50% of tour prices

Many destinations are benefiting from discounts, including Danang, Quy Nhon, Phu Yen or Con Dao. This is the biggest discount in three years sponsored by well-known names such as Vietravel, Hanoi Redtour, Saigon Tourist and Vietran Tour.

A complete package Hanoi-Danang-Hoi An-Ba Na for four days and three nights at a three stars hotel can be bought for just VND6.3 million (USD302) per passenger. The price of Hanoi-Can Tho-Bac Lieu-Soc Trang-ca Mau tour for five days and four nights has also been cut to VND12 million (USD575) per passenger.

Under Vietnam Airlines support, 20 top travel firms have offered attractive discounts on flights. Flights to Hanoi-HCMC, Hanoi-Can Tho or Hanoi-Buon Ma Thuat have been cut to VND3.1 million (USD148) for a return ticket, with the Hanoi-Danang route now reduced to VND2 million (USD96). Restaurants and hotels are also offering their own discount to stir up the market.

"Because of the economic downturn, people are tightening their expenses. Vietnam Airlines is carrying out some new domestic discount packages to stimulate the market." a leader of Vietnam Airlines said.
Assuring customers about the tours' quality, Manager of Domestic Tour Division under Sagon Tourist firm said, "Although we’re offering good discounts, the quality is good and customers can still enjoy many of our services like in normal tours."
